erika mcpherson powell

Erika Powell sees life in the details. Her affinity for art and design came at an early age. As a child, she was capable of transforming a cardboard box into a miniature dollhouse within hours… a transformation not short on details either, wallpapered walls, slip-covered furniture, window coverings, rugs and art; a mere memory now, although most certainly a sign of what was to come.

Born (an identical twin) in Norfolk, Virginia but raised in various cities across the eastern United States, Erika is convinced that her oft-changing hometowns are now reflected in her design style. Undaunted by even the most challenging project, she embraces both condo and castle with equal fervor.

Erika was reared by a creative business executive father and an artist mother who were zealous about antiquing, renovating, gardening, art, design, and, consequently, hard work. Erika emerged from this childhood with a distinct idea of what she wanted to become and a clear direction of how to get there. After graduating Cum Laude from Auburn University with a degree in Interior Design and minors in International Studies and Business, Erika completed her formal training in New York working for both famed designer Victoria Hagan and Scalamandre, a world-renowned textile company.

Erika started Urban Grace Interiors in 2005 and has completed projects across the country, both commercial and residential. Her hands-on design approach is uncanny, working closely with all parties to ensure the vision for each project is executed seamlessly. Her obsession over the finest-tuned details shines through in every completed project.

Erika’s style is both modern and classic, an ideal just-right mix of old and new that is forever timeless. Reluctant to define herself by one certain look (or place), one thread runs common throughout all her projects: impeccable attention to details. Considering the architectural bones of each project is a source of pride for Erika. She has commented, “Ignoring the architecture would be like a dressmaker making a dress without a proper fitting”. This level of detail is what her happy clients have come to expect.

Erika lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida with her two daughters, her husband, and two rescued "terrihuahuas". In her free time she can be found gardening, painting, scouring flea markets and antique shops, traveling, and making improvements to her own home.
